First Christmas

Christmas was so much fun this year! We had such a great time with our families during the holidays.  The girls went out to dinner at Othello’s in Edmond for Christmas Eve with both sets of grandparents, Uncle Grant and Mommy and Daddy of course.  They were a hit at the restaurant and did great.  We went to Nana and Papa’s Christmas morning.  The girls were absolutely spoiled to say the least.  Clothes, toys and many other special items including the beginning of their first college fund through the Oklahoma 529 plan.  That was awesome.  Also, Aunt Amanda and Uncle Michael had a video collage made of the times during my pregnancy through the girls’ birth.  I was so taken back watching it.  One, seeing myself pregnant again and secondly, being reminded of our journey and how tiny the girls were at birth.  They have come a LONG way since last year.  It was a very memorable gift!

We then made a pit stop home to eat and drop off our car load of gifts.  Then we were off to Mimi and Papa’s house to see them and Uncle Grant.  And again, they were spoiled.  Lots of clothes and toys again.  They got these adorable chairs with their names monogrammed on them.  Can’t wait for them to use them and watch a little movie someday.  They got so many of the great classic videos too.  Mary Poppins, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmations, Little Mermaid…to name a few.

Needless to say these girls are in need of absolutely nothing!  Bryan and I were showered with some great gifts for us too 🙂  The girls were not into tearing wrapping paper too much. It was a battle just to eat, open gifts and keep them from not crawling on everything and into everything in the house.  We thought they would be so tired that they might reward us by sleeping all night but nope.  They woke up from 3-4:30 am.  I keep praying it gets better.  But, the Christmas events were more than we deserve and so much fun with the girls.

I got an unbelievable camera from Bryan and I can’t wait to practice on my subjects all day long!  Here are some pictures that I practiced with over Christmas.  Some with the Iphone and some with my new Nikon camera.  Enjoy!

I have not written a post since the first of the month and that is probably because we have not had really any down time.  But, we did have time to go see Santa for the first time!!!  We went with our friends Sophie and Campbell Nevels.  I don’t think they liked Santa too much but their picture was classic.  One to cherish in my opinion Stephanie!  We waited patiently and then a bus full of children showed up.  Fortunately, the chaperones were kind enough to let us go first.  We had to go twice because the first picture they printed turned the girls mouths bright blue like they were rockin’ 80’s lipstick.  They had us redo it and they changed out cameras. I even had a mom I didn’t know help me get the girls back out of their car seats.  It was worth it obviously.

It is amazing that we got our Christmas shopping completed.  That shopping took two outings with Mimi and Papa watching the girls, one outing with me and Papa pushing the girls in the stroller and of course some online shopping.  We are really looking forward to Christmas this year.  It should be a blast.  As I said before, I have a feeling that the gift giving for these girls will be ridiculous.  I mean that in a good way.  I think the grandparents are having a blast with it all.  We appreciate them so much for doing what they do for our girls.  Just in case we receive a house full of new toys I have made an effort to divide items up that need to be donated, given to my sister-in-law and my cousin that are both having babies.  We have been blessed that all the girls needs have been met physically, emotionally and financially.  We could not ask for a better situation.

Some fun developments have been that all three girls are pulling up to everything.  Emily went from the army crawl to pulling up and a full fledged crawl.  They love Iphone and the Ipad.  Go figure with this day in age.  But, it does help to entertain with Elmo on YouTube!  I find myself at night singing, “La La La Elmo’s Song.”  Emily got her first hair trim the other day.  Since she was born she has sort of had this Eddie Munster peak in her hair.  Once her hair came in we thought it may curl up.  But, no.  So after a while and several times trying to push that part of her hair back I trim it.  Much better!  We have also ventured out a bit in our big girl high chairs at restaurants.  These pics are from my brother-in-law Michael’s MBA graduation lunch last week. They did awesome and loved sitting like big girls.  I think we under estimated them.  They are trying a little more to hold their bottles, which we love.  Doing great with food but still no teefers. That is teeth if you didn’t get that. Haha.

And lastly, I have complained, had zero sleep and really been at breaking point the past few months dealing with chronic ear infections.  We finally saw an otolarengologist. That is fancy for ENT.  Avery and Emily had tubes put in their ears on Tuesday.  They are troopers. I was a wreck watching the nurse take them back.  They woke up very mad from the anesthesia which they said was normal, so Bryan and I had to comfort and rock them until they came out of it.  They played that day like nothing happened.  Gradually the nights are getting better.  Camdyn is still on an antibiotic and waking up every night so we may be making a third trip back to the doc, who knows.

We remind ourselves that we are blessed that we don’t have children that are truly ill.  I can’t imagine what parents go through on a daily basis with chronically ill children and back and forth to the doctor and hospitals.  It is emotionally and physically exhausting.  Bryan and I have been up all night for almost two months.  He going to work and me entertaining the girls all day.  We have battled through and hope to see light for both us and the girls at the end of the tunnel.

Until the New Year, may you be reminded of Christ’s blessings in your life.  May you be able to share the holiday with those you love, eat wonderful things until you are sick, maybe take that holiday cat nap (I am sure that won’t be on our list), give gifts with meaning, and renew your hope with the upcoming New Year.    We sure will be doing all of those things to celebrate our first Christmas as a family.  Can’t wait for the girls to love wrapping paper, bows and tissue paper!

Much love, blessings and Christ’s love in your heart,

Stephanie, Bryan and our baby girls – Avery, Camdyn and Emily.

Oh, child things are gonna get easier..and little bit brighter :)

The saga of our sleepless nights continues but is getting a little bit better.  The girls are going to see an ENT on the 14th and we hope that he can shed some light on our ear issues.  Most all of my friends I hear from say that their babies have gone through the same thing, so that makes me feel better.  The girls have been sleeping better and a lot happier during the day.  They are getting more busy everyday from almost standing on their own to just jabbering away!  Even little Miss Emily is doing so great!  She is pulling up and she smiles so big when you cheer for her.  We are so blessed for their health.  Premies and especially multiples have so many potential obstacles and challenges that could lie in our path and so far we have been smooth sailing!  Thank you Lord.  Here is a cute pic of Emily and Camdyn just being “juice buddies.”  We have been practicing with the sippy cup!

We had an awesome Thanksgiving.  We are fortunate our families live in the same town so we did an afternoon and an evening stop.  The girls had a great time.  We have a lot to be thankful for this year especially.  Its amazing to think that this time last year that they were still growing inside me.  I was about 25 weeks I believe.  It was around Christmas that I really remember starting to feel bad. Not only just big, but everything hurt.  It was just weeks after that we knew these girls would probably come earlier than anticipated.  I think of those times and think about how God has his hand in everything good and bad.  I look at them now and its so hard to imagine life without them.  They really make our lives so rich with love we feel so unworthy at times.

I had a fun outting this past week with Miss Avery.  I met a friend and her 3 month old for lunch.  Avery LOVED sitting in the big girl highchair and staring at all the people in Panera.  Its a busy place so just people watching kept her entertained.  It was a fun for me to just get out and spend time just with her. And my friend of course 🙂

I don’t think I mention our families enough, so I think I am going to start!  My sister in law, Amanda, (Bryan’s sis) is expecting a baby girl in March.  Its fun to watch her go through pregnancy.  It has kept my spirits up when things have been rough to remind myself how far we have come.  It will be so fun to have a new (fresh one, as Bryan calls it) around right around the time the girls turn 1.  We will also be celebrating her husband Michael soon.  He is just weeks away from completing his MBA.  He is one smart cookie!  We are very proud of him.  And my brother, Grant, is still working his little tail off.  Most of you know he is an OKC police officer.  The people who protect us everyday and deal with the things he deals with are so underpaid, unappreciated and he still does his best to “protect and serve.”  My wish for him in the New Year is to find some work/life balance so he can maybe find someone special in his life.  Cheesy I know, but my brother is a great guy and I would love to see him have a family of his own someday.  He is wonderful with his neices!

As for Christmas, we finally got our lights up, tree up, Christmas card ordered, and a few shopping items done.  Still have a ways to go!  Our families have suggested that maybe we take a “bye” on buying for our girls this holiday. I can’t imagine what Christmas Day will look like! Wow.  These girls are lucky little ones.  I can’t wait until they really know what Christmas is about and how we celebrate each year is just a reminder of the sacrifices HE made for us to have the lives we do.  Plus, I think the Nutcracker ballet, driving to see lights, drinking hot chocolate, watching The Grinch and others will be blast.

Until we have more holiday happenings to report….

Have a triple blessed holiday 🙂 so far!
